The useful decision is product-specific. A report for one configuration should not be casually extended to every item in a supplier’s range.
Order the full amended reference
EN 14351-1:2006+A2:2016 is the published Genorma record checked on 7 October 2026. BSI’s series catalogue identifies the corresponding Part 1 adoption as current and under review. Keep the amendment suffix in the document order. Genorma record; BSI series record.
Do not infer status from the age of the base year. Recheck the actual publication and resolve the edition required by the project before ordering.
Check the product category and exclusions
The public scope identifies performance characteristics for windows and external pedestrian doorsets. It distinguishes structural applications and excludes categories including curtain walling, internal pedestrian doorsets, industrial or garage doors, revolving doorsets and powered pedestrian doorsets. Fire and smoke-control performance needs its own careful scope review; do not treat Part 1 as a complete assessment for every such claim. Source: Genorma scope.
| Product or task | Question to resolve |
|---|---|
| Window or external pedestrian doorset | Does the proposed configuration fit Part 1? |
| Internal or powered doorset | Which separate product scope applies? |
| Curtain wall or industrial door | Which different product publication is relevant? |
| Special fire, smoke or structural claim | What additional assessment and project information is needed? |

Build a configuration schedule
List the ordered product codes, dimensions, opening arrangements, frame and glazing descriptions, hardware and relevant accessories. Identify the intended location and performance requirements from the project specification. Give the supplier a complete schedule rather than asking whether its generic range “meets EN 14351”.
- Product identity: which assessed model or construction relates to each ordered item?
- Variant coverage: how are the proposed dimensions and options represented or justified?
- Performance evidence: which reports and product documents support the characteristics required by the project?
- Information consistency: do quotation, product documentation and installation information describe the same configuration?
- Changes: who reviews a substituted glazing unit, hardware option, frame material or opening arrangement?
This is an original procurement checklist, not the standard’s conformity procedure. Use the licensed requirements and responsible competent review to determine the evidence and acceptance basis for the actual product.
Separate the product’s assessed characteristics from its suitability in a particular building detail. The project team should resolve the required performance and installation interfaces. A catalogue entry alone does not establish that every proposed detail or use is covered.
A fictional window-range substitution
A contractor orders windows from an assessed range. The supplier proposes a different glazing option and changes the hardware on the largest units, while retaining the same range name.
The buyer marks the changes on the configuration schedule and asks the supplier to connect the proposed items to the relevant evidence. The responsible reviewer considers the claimed application range and the project requirements. The accepted configuration is recorded before the final order is released.
The purchasing decision is to establish the evidence match for the proposed options. This example is fictional and does not approve a window, doorset or installation detail.
Purchase the publication
Confirm the full reference, language, format and user licence with Genorma. If several departments need access, clarify licence coverage. The seller confirms available options and the final checkout price.
Frequently asked questions
Does Part 1 cover every door?
No. Determine the category and check exclusions. Internal, powered and industrial products need separate scope review.
Can one range report cover every size and option?
Ask for the stated or justified coverage. A shared commercial name does not answer that question.
Does the publication establish the required building performance?
Obtain the project’s performance specification from the responsible team and compare the actual product evidence with it.
