- Evidence: Identify the standard, certificate scope, issuing body and applicable accreditation before relying on certification. Guidance and requirements standards serve different purposes.
- Data protection: Review actual processing, contracts, security controls and professional duties. A client may request certification, but this is not a universal legal requirement.
- Public tenders: Read the procurement documents. Directive 2014/24/EU Article 62 addresses quality and environmental evidence, including equivalent certificates and other evidence under specified conditions; ISO certification does not automatically win preference.
- Service delivery: Define competence, review points, acceptance criteria and corrective action for each engagement rather than promising identical outcomes.
